Entrecard is a relatively new idea. Many webmasters has heard about them but many have not used them such as myself. Until a few weeks ago I did not use Entrecard at all. Recently however I discovered how useful having a “card” really is.

There system is very simple. Basically its very similar to a basic banner/traffic exchange site. Instead of a banner each person can make their own custom card which can be placed on other Entrecard member websites for a set amount of points.

Members can accumulate points by selling their space on their blogs or by dropping by other Entrecard websites.

This is a marketing tool must. It is minimal work and you get free website traffic and branding.

To begin, I will keep this concept simple and short. A very effective way to market yourself or website is to simply do what I’m doing right now. Write an article and submit them to article directories, the process is a fast and easy, it also allows information to spread quickly. You can almost always include your link at the bottom of an article which in turn brings you website traffic and helps your page rank.

Where do you start? It’s simple really; all you need is find a topic for your articles. If you need website traffic, there is a reason for it! This is where it gets exciting. For example let’s pretend you have a site related to “Dog Care”. Now what you want to do is write an article on “Dog Care”. This could be any topics from “How to properly wash a dog” to “tips on walking a dog”.

While writing your article you want to imagine yourself reading it. Would you want to read this article? An article could be compared with many things; news, information, or even a school paper. Try not to think of many different topics, but also make sure you keep the article exciting or interesting to keep the viewers entertained.

Last always be sure to include a vital point at the end of you article. This helps in bringing that particular viewer back to reading more of your articles. It’s that simple you can do it starting NOW! Do some research and start writing!

I noticed this month that 8 of my sites updated in PageRank. PageRank is important to many webmasters because it is Google’s way of ranking millions of sites on the internet. One reason webmasters pay close attention to website PageRank is because the higher it is the more money they make from selling links.

Recently, many webmasters are taking more precautions when selling links. This is because many believe Google is penalizing websites that sell links. But, this is all speculation as Google has not confirmed these acquisitions.

Overall I noticed many of my fellow webmaster sites have also updated. Hopefully most of the websites increased instead decreased in value =).

A Widget is a newly defined term, referring to a mini internet application that is offered by a 3rd party. Widgets can easily be integrated in a web page by inserting a small piece of code that will be offered you at the site of your chosen Widget.

What is the best application for a Widget?
There are many pages that users themselves can adapt and customize by inserting pieces of HTML code. These kinda adaptable pages are offered by, for example social networks like MySpace, Facebook, Piczo, Xanga, I Live Spaces, Bebo etc. The newfound freedoms granted users of Blogs, Profile pages and other on line methods of publishing, make Widgets the perfect solution to fast functions and entertainment, without the need to code or own personal hosting space.

Other popular spots to add Widgets are online stat pages like the ones I Google, Microsoft and Yahoo have created. Again its very easy to add content to these pages and its easy to adapt their look and feel, simply by inserting the embed code issued by the supplier of the Widget you are interested in using. Weblogs are another application for Widgets and most of the online blog services like SixApart, Blogger, Wordpress offer plugins to make it even easier to add content like Widgets!

Widgets also make very cool and useful marketing tools for webmasters and companies BECAUSE users propagate (spread them around the internet) FOR THEM (this is what Organic links refer to) and they supply awesome content for users of all the above mentioned methods of on line publishing in seconds rather than hours.

Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process. To start off I’m almost sure that anyone with a website or interested in creating one has see a line like this on the net. “Make thousands a month with AdSense”. Of course it’s a possibility but, the problem is when sites make it seem Extremely Easy to make thousands of dollars each month.

To tell you the truth that’s probably what got me to join AdSense. As time went on and I did more research I realized the majority webmasters shouldn’t depend on AdSense. One reason is, where would your revenue come from if Adsense didn’t exist anymore. AdSense is a good extra bonus, but when it comes to sites revenue there are so many other ways to increase it.

You should always try spread your income streams. This makes your monthly revenue more reliable. This is the same reason most investment brokers invest in hundreds of companies instead of just one.

A very important fact is when you see sites claiming they make $10-$90 a click they are FULL OF IT! Normally it will range from $0.01 - $0.50 per click. I’m not saying you can’t get more money per clicks yet this is what will happen most of the time.

To make this short basically what I am trying to say is AdSense is a good program. Yet there are many things you should research & consider before you think you can make thousands of month using AdSense. I just wanted to give out a friendly warning to all the webmasters =)

Many of these directories are free but some of them charge a fee. First, getting listed in good quality directories such as Open Directory (Google’s directory), the Yahoo will give you a good start. This is “key” and will help you find specialty directories and sites geared towards your niche market.

I’d stay away from many directories, however. Many directories are bad to submit to simply because if they charge a $5 fee and your site link gets put on a PageRank 0 page its not worth the money. If you want to submit to well established, older directories, you should check out the digitalpoint.com forums. If you look under directories you will see what you’re looking for.

You should avoid link farms as these are totally different then a normal link directory. The difference being link farms have thousands of links on one page. This is horrible and Google many penalize you if your links are there.

Link Directories carry a great amount of value, but overall the usage of link directories is steadily going down. This is also because Internet directories link to thousands of other websites, the value that they can add to your PageRank gets diluted by all the other links. Web directories often allow site owners to submit their site for inclusion. Which in turn will normally give them better link placement on a high Page-Ranked page.

By reading this you can see that there are bad and good sides to everything in marketing yet when it comes down to it directory submitting is worth doing. By the way while doing all this you can use software to help you submit to directories much quicker. I recommend looking up “handy submit directory” on Google. This will make the job much easier. I realized something while surfing the Internet today. I was viewing random sites but the sites aren’t what I noticed. I was looking at the links to other sites and I realized that its stupid to buy or make a link to just the domain.

For example putting a link on another site like: hpkmedia.com is a bad idea. Instead it should be hpkmedia.com as the link and for the anchor text it should be “webmaster blog”.

I thought I would write about this because I have building sites and selling sites for more then a year now. Except I had no idea of this concept.

The reason you want to put your keywords into the link is because it helps you rank higher in search engines and link development!
