After a lot of thought I decided to once again create an Asian Community. Ive done this in the past yet it wasn’t very successful due to my lack of attention towards it. This time I expect to have at least 3 months during the launch of the site. During this time I will be able to do full blown marketing campaigns and hopefully bring many active members to the site.

When starting any online community or forum the most important factor to keep it going is to make sure the members stick around. Also NEVER make promises to your members that you are unable to keep. This includes site features, contests, etc. This is because if you can’t keep your promises you will have many unhappy members, which will discourage new members to sign up and current members to leave.

After considering all aspects of starting this community, within the last year I decided to go through with it. Hopefully it is a success =).

Drupal.org offers a software that is very useful. The software is basically a content management software. You can use Drupal’s script to do many different things such as create an article directory, community, forums, and much more. This software is very flexible and easy to use (once you read the “Drupal 101″ documents).

Many large companies are using Drupal for their websites. For example Indianapolis Museum of Art is now using Drupal version 5.x.

Best of all this software is 100% Free and open source so you are allowed to do what you want with it. I recommend Drupal’s free software as its script writers like Drupal that make a webmasters life easier =).

I am happy to present CarDriven.com. I have created this site because my love for cars. I want to first focus on the forum and work my way up. Originally I was going to target a car area. For example something like “Honda”. But, I later decided to make it a very general car forum. Later on I hope to add car reviews, articles, videos etc. I will want to have a good community base before doing all of that. Marketing will be crucial due to all the other car & automotive related sites out there.
